Erica & Rafael ~ beach engagement shoot amidst the fog ~ Black’s Beach, La Jolla

This past weekend, I met Erica & Rafael at Black’s Beach  to shoot their Engagement photos. I was super excited all day for it because the weather had been incredible! I mean, 80 degrees in February is pretty perfect! We met at their house and started driving toward the coast and there it was… this incredibly eerie and large fog bank….and it was creeping in fast. Part of me was doing the happy dance because if you are a photographer, you know shooting at the beach in direct sunlight is kind of scary! But I was bummed for Erica & Rafael because they really wanted their shoot to be that of a So Cal lifestyle…sunny with a gorgeous sunset! Well, we got GRAY… really gray, and really really damp and somehow I found it to be incredibly romantic. I think these are some of my favorite beach images I have ever taken. Mysterious and mystical….. Congratulations you two, your love is undeniable! I can’t wait for their wedding in April!

The High Double Knot ~ Condor’s Nest Ranch Wedding

Why not start off the New Year going back in time to last summer!  I know I know… How the heck did it take me this long to blog this beautiful wedding?   Well… I could go through all the excuses I have, but why bore you.   So here it is.   First of all, let me start by saying that I am beyond blessed to know this couple.   I met them a few years back when I photographed their first knot, a quick and intimate ceremony with their family.  From there, I did Laura’s maternity, then their first family photos as a family of 3, and some other fun shoots, and then THIS, aptly named the High Double Knot. There is no breaking this tie.   This family is legit.  Connected.  Amazing.

The Condor’s Nest Ranch is tucked away in the hills in Pala, California.   This place is a gem… with amazing views, rustic vintage buildings and decor, and an eclectic style that was perfect for this  Hacienda inspired wedding.    Chris & Laura added their special touches by bringing in loads of Spanish pottery, bougainvillea, mexican blankets, and even a roasted pig!   They did away with a traditional cake and had Churro’s instead.    Just when I thought everything about this day was perfect…  they had their first dance and I about fell over.  They played my favorite song…. ever.  I am known to be emotionally involved with my clients and will shed a tear for sure!   However, when White Buffalo’s Love Song #1 came on, I lost it!!     Click HERE to have a listen and have a look at their beautiful day.

{Grateful} ~ A Lifestyle home family session

In honor of Giving Thanks and being grateful for all you have, I am featuring this super fun in home session today. This is my new favorite type of shoot… in home, natural, bright, and full of love. Anything goes, no props, just your family living life the way it should be… blessed and natural. I love this family because they are so real, casual, have great style, and are obviously gorgeous!  Thank you Seiver’s for having me into your home to capture all your life as you live it, always a joy and I am obsessed with little Smith.

A Family session in Fairy Land

Whenever I shoot in Elfin Forest, I think of a land of fairies and fireflies…this place is truly magical. It was a perfect spot to capture my beautiful friend, Aylin, and her family. Aylin is owner and founder of a fantastic fashion and interior design blog Stylin by Aylin. So, it was no wonder she and her family came dressed perfectly. I was gushing over her Free People dress, and the flower crown she brought for herself and her daughter. This has to be one of my favorite family shoots to date. I couldn’t decide what images to choose, so pardon the overload! They are just all so gorgeous!

Main Family ~ Urban ~ Oceanside

This is my thrid year photographing this family. I have a thing for them, maybe it is because the boys are the exact same age as mine and their names are even oddly similar!?! Weird…. and Jen & Vince are super cool and I could definitely see myself hanging out with them outside work! Although, shoots like this aren’t really work. We had a blast wandering through the backstreets of Oceanside. This type of shoot is for the adventurous! You can’t be afraid to get a little grungy and see some interesting things…. I call it culture:) I loved all the different colored walls and textures we found on this shoot!
